LSK sounds alarm over suspected abduction of activist in Kiambu County. The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has expressed concern over the unexplained disappearance of a man from his home in Kinoo, Kiambu County, over the weekend.

According to the LSK, Ndiangui Kinyagia was allegedly taken by individuals believed to be security officers who arrived in multiple Subaru vehicles late on Sunday. Neighbours reported that the vehicles, numbering between six and ten, surrounded his residence before the occupants forcefully entered the house. The last known contact Kinyagia had was a phone call with his mother around 1:00 PM that day.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) reported that the suspected officers also confiscated Kinyagia’s electronic gadgets. The gadgets including his laptop, along with some of his identification documents.

Kinyagia linked by several social media users to an X (formerly Twitter) account that circulated a viral image resembling an official invitation to a planned protest on Wednesday, commemorating those who died during last year’s anti-finance bill demonstrations.

The image, posted on June 19, featured Kenya’s coat of arms and outlined events including a march to State House and the swearing-in of a so-called transition council.

However, Kinyagia’s family clarified they could not confirm whether the account actually belonged to him.

Although the exact details of his disappearance remain uncertain, LSK said the incident shows signs of an enforced disappearance and likely unlawful arrest.

“This incident represents a serious breach of constitutional rights and an outright attack on the rule of law in Kenya. We are calling for swift and transparent action from the relevant authorities,” the legal body stated.
