Bhang worth Ksh.13 million seized during transit. Police in Migori County have seized a significant consignment of bhang estimated to be worth Ksh.13.7 million. The incident took place during a Thursday operation targeting drug trafficking activities. Following a tip-off, police from Oruba Station intercepted a black Toyota Kluger (KBS 517N) along the Giribe-Masara Road. Inside the vehicle, driven by Edwin Okondo Nyagaga, officers discovered eight sacks of bhang weighing about 457.6 kilograms.
In addition to the drugs, police recovered four number plates. The numbers plates which were KBP 716H, KBT 673F, KBW 341T, and KBX 142P suspected to have been used to disguise the vehicle’s identity during the trafficking operation.
Edwin Okondo, the suspect linked to the drug haul, was taken into custody and, together with the seized vehicle and the consignment of bhang, escorted to Oruba Police Station. Authorities are currently processing the suspect as investigations continue. As they plan to present him in court to face drug trafficking charges. The police say the arrest marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to dismantle narcotics networks operating within Migori County and across the region.
