Chelsea FIFA, Trump

Chelsea, FIFA, Trump Score Big. Cole Palmer led Chelsea to victory on Sunday, scoring twice and assisting once. Chelsea stunned PSG 3-0 in the final at MetLife Stadium to claim the first FIFA Club World Cup under the new format.

PSG entered the match as favourites. They had just won the UEFA Champions League and thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals. Even former U.S. President Donald Trump attended the match, adding to the spotlight.

However, the tables turned quickly. Unlike their dominant semifinal performance, PSG trailed 3-0 by halftime. Chelsea controlled the game early and never looked back.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring midway through the first half. He doubled Chelsea’s lead just 10 minutes later. Then, at the 43rd minute, he punished PSG’s poor defending by setting up Joao Pedro for the third goal.

PSG’s misery deepened late in the game. Joao Neves received a red card four minutes from time after VAR confirmed he pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair off the ball.

Few expected such a dominant display. But Chelsea capped off a long, memorable season in style. They became the first team to win the expanded 32-team Club World Cup. They also lifted the UEFA Conference League and finished fourth in the Premier League.

Reward

Chelsea will pocket around $125 million in prize money. With such a reward, even a shortened summer break will feel worth it.

For PSG, the financial reward offers little comfort. The French champions fell short of adding this title to their Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France victories.

Still, winning the Champions League remained their top goal this season. Luis Enrique’s side now has a month to reset before facing Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup.

Excitement filled the MetLife Stadium as 81,118 fans gathered for the final. The Manhattan skyline created a striking backdrop. Former U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania joined the crowd, drawing global attention.

Their presence added weight to the occasion. On the pitch, Chelsea delivered a stunning 3-0 win over PSG. The night blended sport, politics, and spectacle—marking the first FIFA Club World Cup under the new format.
