His remarks
Amin stated, “Certain individuals with ill intentions toward the DCI have twisted my words. All I did was relay to the senators the official timeline from the suspect’s arrest and booking at the station, to the officers’ visit to Mbagathi mortuary.”
Ojwang was arrested at his home in Homa Bay after making a social media post accusing Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat of being involved in a corruption scandal. He was taken to Nairobi, where he later died in police custody under mysterious circumstances, triggering widespread public anger.
The outrage intensified after Amin appeared before the Senate. Many accusing him of minimizing the DCI’s involvement in Ojwang’s case and potentially protecting senior officials linked to the incident.
