Kibra MP Peter Orero’s driver has been fined Ksh100,000 after admitting to blocking traffic along a busy Nairobi road.
The Kibra MP driver appeared before the Milimani Traffic Court on Monday, just days after a viral video captured him blocking motorists in Nairobi.
He admitted to traffic obstruction and asked the court for forgiveness. The driver told the magistrate that he was rushing to the airport when the incident occurred.
“I’m sorry, Your Honour. I was in a hurry to drop someone at the airport. It won’t happen again,” he said during the hearing.
The magistrate reminded the Kibra MP driver that traffic obstruction is a serious offence under Kenyan traffic laws and attracts a fine of up to Ksh100,000.
“I have considered your apology, but the law is clear. The fine stands at Ksh100,000,” she said.
