Pipeline Woman Finally Freed After Hospital Waives Her Bill. Cynthia Ingado, a 26-year-old from Pipeline, Nairobi, went through a heartbreaking miscarriage of twins at four months. After the loss, she found herself stranded in the hospital because she could not afford to clear her bill.
She owed KSh 9,000 for treatment and an additional KSh 2,000 for the disposal of the unborn babies. The situation became unbearable as the foetuses began to decay, and she still could not raise the required amount.
Her mother, who lives in the village, managed to raise only KSh 500 to help. Cynthia also revealed that the father of the twins abandoned her when he discovered she was pregnant with twins. He reportedly told her to handle the matter on her own because his family had no history of twins.
Initially, the hospital declined to release the foetuses for burial until the fees were paid in full. The Social Health Authority could not intervene because miscarriages are not covered under their scheme.
Everything changed when Cynthia’s story gained public attention. The hospital’s management took notice and stepped in to help. They decided to waive her entire bill, allowing her to leave without incurring any charges.
With her bill cleared, Cynthia was finally able to take the foetuses and go home. She now plans to bury her babies and begin the emotional healing process.
Her story highlights the struggles many Kenyans face with unexpected medical bills and shows how compassion and public awareness can bring real change.
