Simiyu confident of turnaround next season. Tusker FC forward Ian Simiyu says he is settling in well at the club after joining from Nzoia Sugar midway through last season.
Simiyu, who finished as the National Super League’s top scorer before his move, has steadily adapted to life at the former Kenyan Premier League champions.
“I joined midway through last season, but I’ve quickly embraced Tusker’s system and style,” Simiyu said. “It’s a new role compared to what I played at Nzoia, but I’m enjoying the transition and learning every day.”
The striker also praised the strong bond developing within the squad, saying it has helped him grow and feel more confident on the pitch.
Tusker FC forward Ian Simiyu may not have found the back of the net in the Premier League just yet, but the young striker is far from discouraged.
He admits that breaking into goal-scoring form in the topflight has been a challenge. But he remains focused and determined to make his mark. During the off-season, Simiyu is investing time in improving key areas of his game. These includes positioning, timing, and finishing under pressure.
Scoring ambitions
“It’s true, I haven’t opened my goal account in the Premier League yet. And that’s something I’m working hard to change,” said Simiyu. “The competition is tougher, and the pace is higher, but I’m learning with each match and getting closer.”
Simiyu added that he’s taking the current break as an opportunity to reset, train harder, and return stronger when the new season kicks off.
“I believe the goals will come,” he said. “I just need to stay patient, trust the process, and keep improving every day.”
Having shown great potential in the National Super League, where he was the top scorer before moving to Tusker. Simiyu is confident that his breakthrough moment in the Premier League is just around the corner.
